What is an optimisation audit and how to request one?

Learn how Musosoup optimisation audits work, what is reviewed, and how to request one so you can improve performance, trust, and paid conversions

We work very closely with our curators to help them not only get the most out of Musosoup, but also to improve, evolve, and strengthen their websites, playlists, social channels, and overall approach to promotion.

We are genuinely invested in our curators and want to help them build the strongest possible channels to champion independent music. As part of this, we regularly carry out optimisation reports where we take a detailed look at how a curator is using Musosoup, how their bundles are performing, how artists experience working with them, and how their external channels support their activity on the platform.

Each optimisation report is designed to provide clear, practical recommendations that aim to improve paid acceptance rates, increase marketplace engagement, and strengthen overall artist trust and experience.

What is an optimisation report?

An optimisation report is a structured review of your activity, performance, and presentation both on Musosoup and across your wider channels.

It combines platform data with hands-on review and experience working with curators. The outcome is a written report that highlights strengths, identifies opportunities, and suggests practical actions you can take to improve results. All recommendations are guidance only and entirely optional. You remain in full control over what you choose to implement.

Why would we carry out an optimisation report?

There are several reasons we may suggest an optimisation report.

We see clear potential to increase earnings

Sometimes we can see opportunities to improve pricing, restructure bundles, refine intro messages, or improve how offers are presented. In other cases, we may see scope to increase the number of offers being sent or help you scale activity in a sustainable way, if that is something you want to do.

We notice a change in activity or performance

If we detect a drop in offer volume, paid acceptance rates, or marketplace engagement, we may reach out to check everything is ok. Where appropriate, we may suggest an optimisation report to explore what might be affecting performance and how to address it.

We feel the platform may not be being used effectively

In rare cases, data may suggest that the platform is not being used in a way that leads to a good experience for artists or curators. This might include sending very high volumes of offers or consistently seeing no paid offers accepted. In these situations, we will usually suggest a call alongside an optimisation report to help get things back on track.

You are receiving poor feedback or struggling with workload

If feedback indicates issues around communication, delivery, or expectations, or if workload appears difficult to manage, an optimisation report can help identify adjustments that protect both your reputation and your time.

What do we look at in an optimisation report?

Each report is tailored to the individual curator, but typically covers the following areas.

Curator profile and intro messaging

We review how your curator profile presents you to artists and whether it builds trust and clarity. This includes your bio, intro message, tone, and how clearly your paid and free offerings are communicated. Good profiles are personal, transparent, and set expectations early.

Marketplace offers and bundle structure

We analyse your promo descriptions, example links, pricing, and bundle range. We look at whether artists can easily understand what they will receive, when it will be delivered, and how different budgets are catered for. Strong bundles are clear, well tiered, and reflect the actual value and effort involved.

Paid acceptance and conversion metrics

We review key platform metrics such as paid acceptance rates, thumbs up versus thumbs down feedback, and marketplace request activity. These help us identify where friction may exist and where small changes could lead to meaningful improvements.

Communication and artist experience

We look at response times, clarity of communication, and how delivery expectations are managed. Good communication is one of the strongest predictors of positive feedback and repeat engagement.

Website quality and structure

Where relevant, we review your website layout, navigation, branding consistency, readability, and professionalism. We focus on whether artists can easily understand who you are, what you offer, and see examples of coverage. A clear, modern site builds trust and improves conversion.

Branding and visual consistency

We assess logos, fonts, colour usage, and imagery across your site and channels. Consistent branding significantly improves perceived professionalism and confidence in your publication.

Playlist strategy and presentation

For curators offering playlist-related promotions, we review playlist focus, length, update frequency, descriptions, and cover design. Effective playlists are niche focused, clearly curated, and professionally presented.

Each section of the report includes clear findings and specific recommendations, along with the reasoning behind them, so you understand not just what to change but why it matters.

What happens when we run an optimisation report?

If we think a report could be helpful, we will contact you and explain why we believe it could benefit you. We will outline the areas we think could be improved, whether that is increasing paid conversions, improving feedback, or helping you scale more confidently.

There is absolutely no pressure to proceed. If you decide you are not interested and you are happy with how you are using the platform, we will respect that and leave the door open for the future.

What happens after the report is delivered?

Once the report is sent, we will arrange a follow up to walk through the recommendations and help you prioritise next steps.

We will then keep an eye on how key metrics change over the following weeks and months and schedule check ins where helpful. Our team is always available to support implementation, answer questions, or explore alternative approaches.

What ongoing support do we offer?

If you would like further help, simply ask. We are happy to provide more detailed guidance based on your report, such as recommending website templates, helping optimise brand assets, proofreading bundle or profile copy, or suggesting structural improvements.

Where appropriate, we can also share tools, resources, or examples to help you implement changes. Our aim is to support improvements that benefit not only your Musosoup performance but your channel as a whole.

How do we choose which curators to analyse?

We regularly review platform data across metrics such as offer volume, earnings, conversion rates, pricing, feedback, and engagement trends. This helps us identify curators who we believe would most benefit from a report.

Typically, we proactively reach out to five to ten curators per month. You are also welcome to request a report yourself if you feel it would be useful.

How can I request an optimisation report?

If you would like to request an optimisation report, please email curators@musosoup.com. We will review your activity and channels and, in most cases, will be happy to carry one out for you.

Are there any commitments involved?

There are no commitments. We hope you find value in our recommendations and feel supported in making improvements, but you are under no obligation to implement anything. If you disagree with a recommendation or decide it is not right for you, that is completely fine.

Our role is to support and advise. You remain fully in control of how you use the platform.

Final thoughts on optimisation reports…

Optimisation reports are one of the ways we invest in our curator community.

They are designed to be supportive, practical, and grounded in real data and experience. Whether you are looking to increase earnings, improve artist experience, or simply sense-check how you are using Musosoup, an optimisation report can provide clarity and direction without pressure.

If you are ever unsure whether one would be useful for you, just reach out. We are always happy to help.
