Completing your curator and publication profiles on Musosoup

Completing your profiles on Musosoup

When you join Musosoup, you’ll have two separate but connected profiles:

  • Your Curator profil
  • One or more Publication profiles which you may be associated with

Together, these profiles tell artists who you are, what you do, the channels you operate, and how you can help promote their music. Taking the time to complete them properly is one of the most important steps you can take - strong profiles lead to more engagement, better-fit artists, and higher-quality conversations.

Understanding Curator vs Publication Profiles

Curators are the individuals on Musosoup (people like you) who listen to music, discover artists, make offers, and engage directly with artists on the platform.

A curator can be linked to one or multiple publications. For example:

  • You might write for two different music blogs
  • Run your own Instagram or TikTok channel
  • Curate a Spotify playlist or host a radio show

Each of these is treated as a publication.

When you make an offer, artists will always see:

  • Who made the offer (the individual curator)
  • Where the promotion will appear (the publication or channel)

This transparency helps artists understand both the person and the platform behind each offer - and it builds trust.

Where can I edit my profiles?

To edit your profiles:

  1. Log in to Musosoup
  1. Click your username in the top-right corner
  1. Select Settings

From here, you can access and edit both your curator profile and any linked publication profiles.

Completing Your Curator Profile

Your curator profile is where artists get to know you - your taste, experience, and approach to music discovery.

Your curator name is your account username, which is why there’s no name field here. To edit your name, go to Account Settings.

Profile Components

THUMBNAIL

This is your profile image - ideally a clear photo of you. Seeing a real person behind an offer matters. Artists are far more likely to engage when they can put a face to a name and feel there’s a genuine human connection.

💡Tips:

  • Use a clear, well-lit image
  • Avoid busy backgrounds
  • Maximum width or height: 2,500px

ABOUT

This is one of the most important parts of your curator profile. It’s your chance to tell artists who you are, what you care about, and what kind of music excites you.

Think of this as a short introduction - not a CV.

Helpful things to include:

  • Where you’re based and how you got into music
  • The genres or sounds you’re most drawn to
  • The channels or publications you contribute to
  • Your skills (writing, interviewing, playlisting, social content, etc.)
  • How you like to support artists and the types of bundles you typically offer
  • One or two personal or interesting details that make you human

Well-written “About” sections lead to better-fit artists and more meaningful collaborations.

MEDIA PLAYER / EMBED

Here you can add a media embed to bring your profile to life. This could be:

  • A short video introducing yourself
  • A podcast episode you’ve appeared on
  • A video showcasing your publication or channel
  • A playlist that reflects your personal taste

This helps artists quickly understand your vibe, taste, and perspective.

How Can Artists Access My Curator Profile?

Artists can view your curator profile:

  • By clicking your name in offers
  • From related publication profiles
  • In marketplace listings

Your profile also displays any marketplace bundles you’ve listed, making it easy for artists to explore your offerings and engage directly. Even if you don’t have bundles yet, your profile still acts as a valuable introduction.

Completing Your Publication Profile

Your publication profile represents the specific channel where content or promotion will appear - such as a blog, website, playlist, radio station, podcast, or social account.

To edit a publication profile:

  1. Go to Settings
  1. Click the Publications tab
  1. Select the relevant publication

If you manage multiple publications, they’ll all appear here.

Publication Profile Components

THUMBNAIL

This is usually your publication’s logo or channel image. If you don’t have a logo yet, you can create one using simple tools - even something clean and text-based works well.

Ensure:

  • The image is clear and well-cropped
  • Correct proportions
  • Maximum width or height: 2,500px

Striking thumbnails help your publication stand out and attract artist attention.

COVER IMAGE

The cover image appears at the top of your publication profile and helps set the visual tone.

By default, Musosoup will stretch your thumbnail to fit the cover area. This works as a placeholder, but uploading a dedicated cover image creates a more polished, professional impression.

Recommendations:

  • Dimensions: ???
  • Consistent with your brand, logo, and tone

If you don’t have one, tools like Canva, Adobe Express, or AI image generators can help.

NAME

This is your publication name.

💡Tips:

  • Keep it clean and readable
  • Avoid hashtags, emojis, or excessive symbols
  • Match your website or social channel name where possible

Consistency helps artists recognise and trust your brand.

LOCATION (COUNTRY AND TOWN)

Enter the country and town you’re based in.

Even if your audience is international, location still matters. Many artists actively seek coverage from curators in specific regions, and this helps them understand your context and reach.

STATS ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL REACH OF OUR CURATORS?

WEBSITE

Add the full URL of your website, including https://.

This is often the first thing artists click so it’s important it works and links to the correct place.

💡 Tips:

  • Double-check the link works
  • Use your main homepage or publication landing page
  • Avoid shortened or redirect-heavy URLs

PUBLICATION BIO

This is the most important section of your publication profile. Use this space to clearly explain what your publication is, who it’s for, and why artists should care.

Consider including:

  • A short overview of the publication and how long it’s been running
  • The type of content you create and where it’s published
  • High-level audience, follower, or listener numbers (if available)
  • The genres or artists you tend to cover
  • The types of promotions or bundles you offer
  • What makes your publication unique or different

Think of this as your pitch - clarity here leads to better engagement and fewer mismatched offers.

SOCIAL LINKS

Add links to all relevant publication social channels.

These links appear on:

  • Your publication profile
  • Offer pages
  • Marketplace bundle pages

Make sure:

  • Links are complete and working
  • They point to publication accounts, not personal profiles

How Can Artists Access My Publication Profile?

Artists can access your publication profile:

  • By clicking the publication name in an offer
  • From marketplace promotions
  • Via the Explore Publications directory, which lists all active publications on Musosoup

On your publication profile, artists can see:

  • Marketplace promotions from that publication
  • The curators who contribute to it

Final Tip: Optimise As You Go

You can update your curator and publication profiles at any time.

Don’t worry about getting everything perfect on day one. Pay attention to what resonates with artists, refine your descriptions, update visuals, and optimise as you learn what works best.

Strong profiles lead to better matches, better conversations, and better outcomes - for you and the artists you support.
